Community Planning
The Community Planning Department is committed to delivering exceptional service to our citizens and stakeholders. We understand that navigating the intricacies of zoning codes, plans, and ordinances can be challenging. Therefore, we are here to assist you in every possible way. Owyhee County has strategically established land use zones to guide the future of development in our community. These zones include Agricultural, Commercial, Historic, Industrial, Multiuse, and Residential. Our Residential zones are designed to accommodate housing, while Multiuse zones effectively integrate residential, commercial, and agricultural uses. This thoughtful planning ensures that Residential and Multiuse zones are situated near essential public services, directing development toward areas that are most accessible, including residences that may incorporate small-scale accessory agricultural use. Agriculture remains the cornerstone of Owyhee County’s economy, sustaining the livelihoods of many residents. The Agricultural zone is intentionally reserved for expansive working landscapes, protecting them from residential development and other conflicting land uses. Our Community Planning Department has limited staffing, but we are dedicated to engaging with citizens and developers on a variety of projects. We invite you to contact us to schedule a meeting, ensuring that we are available and allocate dedicated time to discuss your project or property. Please feel free to reach out—we look forward to the opportunity to speak with you.
