Leave the world of today and enter the world of yesterday. From mining to ranching, experience what it was like for the early pioneers of Owyhee County. It can be said that Owyhee County is all that’s left of Idaho’s wild west. It was here that gold and silver were discovered in 1863, which helped create the Idaho Territory. The sagebrush steppe turned easterners into ranchers and towns such as Silver City, Dewey and Delamar brought untold fortunes to many. Owyhee County is the second largest county in the state comprising of a land mass bigger than the state of New Jersey!

Still to this day you can experience what it was like for the early settlers. The County remains as it did 150 plus years later and the Owyhee County Museum brings all its history into one place.

Be a part of history, Volunteer today!

There are many exciting opportunities at the Museum for those who would like to participate in preserving Owyhee County’s unique History.
