Sheriff Cadet
The Owyhee County Sheriff's Office Cadet Unit provides hands-on, real world experience to young men and women who are interested in law enforcement.
The program enables cadets to develop marketable leadership skills, impresses the importance of community service, and provides an environment based on teamwork.

The Owyhee County Public Safety Cadet Unit is currently recruiting for the volunteer position of Sheriff Cadet.
The Owyhee County Cadets work closely within the Sheriff's Office and develop experiences in such things as:
- Administrative procedures
- Arrest and control
- Crime prevention
- Community relations
- Emergency dispatch and
- communications
- Fingerprinting
- Leadership experiences
- Officer safety
- Ride-Along Program
- Traffic control
- Idaho Vehicle and Penal codes
Primary General Requirements
- Applicants must be at least 15 (in high school) to 20 years of age
- Applicants must have a general interest and appreciation for law enforcement
- Applicants must have an accumulative
GPA of 2.0 ("C" or better in each class) - Applicants must dedicate a minimum of 12 hours a month through meetings & events
- Applicants must be of good moral character
- Applicants may not have any felony
convictions - Applicants under the age of 18 must have parental consent and support
- Applicants must understand this is a VOLUNTEER position
