A fun and educational non-competitive trail ride to raise funds for the Murphy Reynolds Wilson Fire and EMS District (MRW). Ride your horse or mule on an 8-mile loop along historic paths of the past near Murphy. All breeds welcome. Follow signs to the parking area on private land at the northwest end of Murphy. The marked trails will wind through parts of the Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation and the Guffey Butte-Black Butte Archaeological District. Ride parts of the Oregon Trail where pioneers crossed the continent in the mid-19th century. Learn about pioneer stockman Con Shea and the cattle he brought to Owyhee County in 1869. And trace the route of the Boise, Nampa & Owyhee Railroad. Draw for prizes at each checkpoint along the trail. Checkpoints will have EMTs.

• After your ride, enjoy a free piece of homemade pie at the Owyhee County Museum and join the festivities including auctions, raffles, and the annual Horny Toad Race.

• Ride fees: $25 per rider ($20 for riders under 15 years old)
